Aldri van Jaarsveld
Managing Partner – Creative
Aldri is our fearless leader. And looks the part.
Part businessman, part law graduate, part raconteur, part photographer, part writer, part diplomat, part lecturer, part adventurer, part and parcel of every brief and all Adboer.
Aldri reads far and wide and often travels further, bringing home new clients, better insights and a down-to-earth attitude to marketing that’s hard to find in today’s competitive environment.
His straight-talking, no-nonsense approach inspires as much as his distinctive laugh – heard often echoing through the office.
As director, CEO, ECD and part owner of Black Khaki, Aldri often takes the lead – and then some.
Michelle Porter
Managing Partner – Client Service
Michelle is living proof that dynamite comes in small packages. Well, dynamite and style. And efficiency. And knowledge. Which is power. Which brings us back to dynamite.
Point being that Michelle is, as Client Service Director, the dynamo which Black Khaki revolves around. She is not only part of every client and every brief, but also totally on top of it all, every second of every day.
Hailing from the Karoo, Michelle is as wholesome as a banting broodjie, seasoned with salt of the earth. Her attention to detail, many degrees in marketing and the fact that she’s not just the director, but also a partner in the Black Khaki business means that she has your brand at heart.
And what a big heart it is.
André Lubbe
General Manager: Head of Design
André feels like home. That may be because he works from home. Lucky bastard!
As our Man in Cape Town, André takes the lead when it comes to everything visual. A designer’s designer, he has studied at every design and marketing institution imaginable, and can prove it.
Even more impressive is his experience at some of the top agencies in South Africa – which is why he joined Black Khaki in the first place and decided to stay. None of that corporate nonsense, you see? Just down to earth goodness, a sense of family and the fact that we didn’t mind him working from home…
Possibly more the latter.
Whatever. We won! He’s ours! Victory dance!
Richardt Strydom
Digital Account Manager
Richardt is an artist, a lecturer, a brother, a lover, a photographer, and a Master. Not necessarily in that order.
A student of human behaviour through contemporary post-conceptual art, identity performance, social anthropological visualisation, the promiscuity of images and Swedish Pop music – Richardt has the following to say about himself:
‘My current praxis takes the form of a bi-directional reciprocal relationship between research and creative practice.’
Which, broken down, basically means that he operates on a whole nother level, y’all!
Luckily, Richardt makes sense of all things digital for us mere mortals, bringing some intellectuality and practical efficiency to Black Khaki’s online arm.
Brandon de Buys
Account Director
Brandon is the epitome of a go-getter. He is also the epitome of a Joburg Boykie, but that’s not a bad thing – unless you can’t handle the magnificent roar of a straight-piped TDI.
He is the hardest working AE (Account Director / Client Service) in the country, as well as a true student of the marketing machine.
If you need it done – day or night – or if you need someone to go cycle with – Brandon is your man. As long as you live in Cape Town, where he is currently residing on behalf of Black Khaki – taking names and making waves.
Noxolo Ntlangani
Junior Account Executive
Noxolo (Nox for short) is a people’s person. She loves everyone. So much feels. So much feels!
Vibrant and loud, Nox loves camping, events, friends, nature, life, conversation, dancing, music, did we say friends? More than 2000 of them. Just send her a friend request already!
Being in sales all her life prepared her for life at Black Khaki, where – let’s face it – we’re nothing but glorified salesmen.
And Nox – the most glorified of us all…
Daniëlle Koekemoer
Designer / DTP
Daniëlle’s surname literally means ‘cakes that bliksem each other’. Nice.
To counteract the negative effects of surname bashing, she introduced herself to us as ‘Koekies’ – translated as ‘Little Cakes’. In hindsight, not the best move. The name stuck, and Koekies has become as much part of the furniture as the body that houses the name.
Koekies is quiet. Deadly so. And when she speaks, usually when asked, what comes out of her mouth makes so much sense that she is often called upon to not only design, but also sell.
Having accelerated her worth within months of arriving, Koekies is well on her way to becoming that rare thing in advertising – a genuine soul with a flair for creativity.
Khuty Ngqayimbana
Designer / DTP
Khuty is all about the hair. And the passion. For fashion. She’s about looking fresh, funky and confident, in a kind of self-made African vintage style.
All of which translates really well in her day job at Black Khaki as Designer Supreme. Through a dazzling array of ever-changing hairstyles and creativity, Khuty (real name Khuthala – Wakanda Foreva!) elevates every project through her sense of style and attention to detail.
She is an avid reader of African history, old-school to the core and in her own words enjoys ‘Life! People! Everything!’
Wilfred le Roux
Senior Web Developer
Wilfred is not from this world. He is so much online that he appears pixelated, if you can see him at all.
Giving new meaning to the words ‘Stille water, diepe grond’, Wilfred is, much like the programs he creates, running silently in the background.
Extremely knowledgeable, Wilfred enjoys peace and quiet. And binge-watching series. He doesn’t go out, except as the hero of the latest video game searching for his destiny online.
Of everyone at Black Khaki, Wilfred knows the score. It must be wonderful to be him.
Lanita van Niekerk
Senior Designer
Lanita likes detail. A lot.
For instance, from across the room, she will tell you exactly what is wrong with the kerning in this paragraph – whether it is metric or optical.
In her near-decade in the industry, she’s worn many hats – senior designer, art director, creative director, and award winner – including an ISTD with merit (an actual award – not a disease).
Her eye for style, order and grids make her an invaluable member of the Black Khaki team – keeping us all in check, the work lined up and the creative flowing.
Raika Cheddy
The Accountant
Raika has worked for 10 years as an accountant at various organisations, five of which have been at Black Khaki. She describes herself as reserved and shy at first, but once you get to know her, she’s goofy and fun to be around. Aren’t all accountants?
With a B. Compt (Honours) Degree behind her name, it is in her nature to always give 100%. She is, in fact, righteous, astute, intelligent and kind. She loves family, the outdoors, nature and the sea (What? No long walks on the beach?) and considers herself to be different because she is motivated by love and passion for what she does.
“I’ve always placed myself in a position that allows me to learn and grow not only in my career but as a person (balance is pertinent to me), and the culture at Black Khaki has allowed me to achieve this.”
